Good family time
Rented a fishing boat through the website. Don't assume that your rental will look anything like the photos on the website. They only have one and it is a POS. The back quarter of the boat was covered by 2-3 inches of water all the time so the person in the back has wet feet for the duration. If you put more weight on the back of the boat the water actually gets deeper. Somewhat frightening. The website shows a gas outboard motor. Their rentals only have a trolling motor. When we asked about the battery condition before leaving we were assured all was well.....didn't seem a good sign to me when we left with a battery that was already in the boat for who knows how long. Our trolling motor went dead after only traveling a short distance. The trolling motor is your only method of propulsion, you are given no oars or even a paddle. When the motor died, we were adrift in the lake without any means of steering while waiting for rescue. We were given soaking wet life jackets upon departure and told it didn't matter because we didn't have to wear them. Middle pedestal seat was broken.....almost a recliner. They advertise that they sell bait.....well they do but they have to go get it. We used twenty minutes of our rental time waiting for the person to get back with the bait. Overall, stay away!
This is our third year renting. 4 hours $245.00 which equates to a dollar per minute plus $21.00 gas (drove only 1 hour). Three years ago the pontoons we're relatively new and the experience was very good. This year was a disappointment. The number "1" pontoon's seats are split from front to back through wear and sun. Mold was observable on several cushions including where you lay in the rear. The front pontoon door would not latch. The throttle housing mechanism was both loose and extremely hard to engage forward and reverse. The canopy and frame was loose and extremely noisey at speed. Tape had been used to secure the ripped canopy. The radio did not work. Lastly I suspicion, but could not confirm, that the wrong pitch prop or perhaps even a wrong diameter prop is installed as the Crest pontoon was not nearly as fast as the ones rented the two previous years. The engine revs high but the pontoon travels much slower. Perhaps your experience will be better. Until new pontoons are available I will not return. 6/2017
